About Us

Adipose is defined as fatty; consisting of, resembling, or relating to fat. One way to define Blues is to feel melancholy or down in spirit. So, yes I have the Adipose Blues. This website was created because there are so many of us that want to lose weight or need to lose weight for health reasons, but find it so difficult to do so. With the help of Weight Watchers I have lost and gained back anywhere from 20 to 50 pounds several times, each time swearing that I will never gain back more than 5 pounds ever again. My reasoning being that it would be easier to lose 5 pounds rather than 10, 20, or 30 or more pounds. Therein lies the problem—the extra pounds always creep back on. I think many of you can relate to this. I am at the point in my life where I want to be healthy. It is not so much about body image or what the bathroom scale reveals to me, but about health. I am 52 years old and it would be nice to be around for another 30 or so years.

Losing the Same Weight Over and Over Again

About two and a half years ago, I was at an ideal weight. My clothes fit well, and more importantly I felt healthy. Exercise was an crucial part of my daily routine although I certainly did not run marathons or spend hours at the gym—I never will. I maintained my weight for several years by walking, doing some light weight resistance exercises, keeping track of the foods I ate, staying away from processed foods, and eating meals that I cooked in my own kitchen. During those years I did not dine out much, and when I did I would try to order lower calorie items. Food is something I love. I love cooking it, serving it, eating it, talking about it, writing about it, photographing it, and thinking about it. I enjoy creating recipes that are not only delicious but healthy.
At the present time, I need to lose about 30 pounds. Several months ago I found out my cholesterol is high, and I want to reduce the cholesterol and get healthy again. Exercise has not been a regular part of my routine for a couple of years now. Dining out has become a huge part of life lately. It is time to get back in the kitchen, utilize the scale and measuring cups, and start preparing and eating good healthy foods.
