Welcome to Adopose Blues

My name is Anne, and I am trying to lose 35 pounds. I teach chemistry at the college level which keeps me very busy. Too busy sometimes to plan and cook healthy meals. I have successfully lost and then gained the weight back over the years. At this point in my life I am focused on getting myself healthy and to achieve that goal I need to lose weight and maintain my weight loss. Weightwatchers has helped me in the past to achieve my weight loss goals. I have thought about going back to WW, but their new Points Plus program does not work for me. I need more structure. Hence, the creation of Adipose Blues.

This site is for those of us that are trying to lose or maintain our weight in a healthy manner. It is a place which will hold me accountable. Important weight loss, health, and current information will be found here as well as a much needed support community.

It has been shown that people who join communities are more successful in their weight loss efforts. The site is still under construction, but I have started a weight loss journal to track my own losses and gains. You can also start a weight loss journal in the forum. The forum is very new, and I hope that it will be an area of support for all. We can only learn from each other’s knowledge and experience. To maintain privacy, you will need to register to participate in the forums. You can reply to posts and start your own topics.

There are many diets out there that claim you can lose loads of weight in a short time. Some are great and work very well, but some are only intended to take your money for information that you can find for free. Many weight loss programs have unrealistic expectations and do not take into consideration that, yes we are sometimes going to eat a piece of birthday cake or an order of French fries. We are all different and one type of diet does not fit all. Actually, Weightwatchers is a great program that does allow for treats. In fact you can fit anything into the plan. As great as Weightwatchers is, it is also not affordable for many which is another reason I created Adipose Blues. Right now there is a lot of confusing information out there on what we should and should not be eating. One day we are told that we should substitute Omega-3 polyunsaturated fats for saturated fats and the next there is an article stating that consumption of Omega-3 fats might be correlated to an increase in inflammation. It can be overwhelming to sift through all of it. And then there are the many recommended supplements. I could not afford to buy them all, let alone have the time to take so many pills. Again, each individual is different and there is no one size fits all fix. Many of us want to eat normal available foods while losing unwanted pounds or maintaining a weight loss.

I believe we can achieve our goals if we support each other. Recipes will be posted on a regular basis. If you have a favorite recipe, please send it, and I will post it in the recipe collection with credits to the creator of the recipe. If you obtained the recipe from a book or website, please include the book or website information. Success to all of us!!
